Prof. Dr. Thomas Kurscheid

This is the principle by which Prof. Dr. Thomas Kurscheid lives and works. Prof. Dr. Thomas Kurscheid (*1964 in Bergisch Gladbach) is a healthcare professional and specialist in general medicine, as well as a doctor of preventative medicine in favour of naturopathic treatments, sports medicine and nutritional medicine.
He has studied in Budapest, Cologne and London and in 1992 gained a PhD in "necrotizing enterocolitis", a bowel condition in infants. In 1996 he finished his studies in health sciences at the Universität Düsseldorf with the title "Master of Public Health" (MPH). He then spent three years carrying out scientific work at the Institut für Gesundheitsökonomie und klinische Epidemiologie (Institute for Health Economics and Clinical Epidemiology) at the University Hospital Cologne, as well as working in the field of international health economics for BASF. The focal points of his work were obesity and cardiovascular disease and their prevention. After this he spent four years in health management at the Deutsche Krankenversicherung Aktiengesellschaft (German private health insurance company) in Cologne. From 2003 onwards he was the Medical Managing Director of the goMedus-Gesundheitszentrum (goMedus Health Centre) in Cologne, where he practised as a resident doctor. In his Cologne practice he focuses on preventative medicine, taking a holistic approach and working with internal specialists, occupational healthcare professionals, psychologists, nutritionists and physiotherapists.
Scientific exchanges with colleagues in the Germany-wide Prevent.on health promotion group for company check-ups ensures high-quality care. The work of Prof. Dr. Thomas Kurscheid goes far beyond family doctor care: his interdisciplinary care, based on experience, includes a sophisticated check-up programme and health coaching. Prof. Dr. Kurscheid uses his extensive experience and works with his patients to develop strategies for healthy living. Changes in day-to-day life play a particular role in this.
